Legal Disclaimer

1. Not a law firm; not legal advice

ParqueMedia LLC ("ParqueMedia") is not a law firm, is not licensed to practice law in any jurisdiction, and does not provide legal services. The Contract Explainer (the "Service") provides general, educational information only. Nothing on the Service is legal advice, and nothing on it should be treated as a substitute for advice from a licensed attorney.

Legal advice means applying the law to the specific facts of a person's situation and recommending a course of action. The Service does not do this. It describes, in plain language, what the words of a document appear to say.

2. No attorney-client relationship

Using the Service, submitting a document, or contacting ParqueMedia does not create an attorney-client relationship, a fiduciary relationship, or any other professional relationship. No person associated with ParqueMedia is acting as your lawyer. Information you submit is not protected by attorney-client privilege or by the work-product doctrine.

3. The Service does not tell you what to do

The Service does not advise you whether to sign, decline, negotiate, perform, dispute, or end any agreement, and it does not evaluate whether a document is fair, lawful, or enforceable in your circumstances. Any decision about a document is yours alone.

4. Laws vary and change

Laws differ from state to state and change over time. Court decisions can change how a law is applied. General statements on the Service about the law of any state may be incomplete, out of date, or inapplicable to you. The "State note" and "Where to verify" portions of an explanation are general pointers, not statements of what the law requires in your case.

5. No guarantee of completeness or accuracy

The Service may miss, misread, or misdescribe provisions, including important ones. A document may have legal effects that depend on facts the Service does not know, on other documents it has not seen, or on law it has not considered. The absence of a warning is not an indication that a document is safe to sign.

6. Concern ratings are not legal conclusions

Labels such as "High concern," "Medium concern," "Low concern," and "No concern" are automated estimates intended to help you decide where to focus your reading. They are not findings that a provision is illegal, unenforceable, unconscionable, or harmless.

7. Not for urgent matters

Do not rely on the Service where time matters. If you have received court papers, a notice with a deadline, an eviction or repossession notice, or any demand that requires a response by a certain date, contact a licensed attorney or a legal aid organization right away. Missing a legal deadline can permanently affect your rights.

8. How to find a licensed attorney

You can find a licensed attorney through your state or local bar association's lawyer referral service. If you cannot afford an attorney, you may qualify for free help from a legal aid organization in your state. The Legal Services Corporation maintains a directory of legal aid programs at lsc.gov. ParqueMedia does not recommend, endorse, or receive compensation from any attorney or organization.

9. No endorsement

References to government agencies, websites, or other resources are provided for convenience. They are not endorsements, and ParqueMedia is not affiliated with any government agency, court, or bar association.

10. Other professional advice

The Service also does not provide financial, tax, accounting, insurance, real estate, immigration, or medical advice. Consult an appropriately licensed professional for those matters.

11. Relationship to the Terms of Use

This Legal Disclaimer is part of the Terms of Use, which contain additional disclaimers of warranties and limitations of liability.
